An apology letter

Some things are easy to write.
And others are really a fight.

Some words slide right off your tongue,
And you wish they were quickly undone.
If only you could unsay them as fast as they slip out.
You can’t.

Apologies take effort and time.
Are they accepted?
Or lost in the ether?
Imagine the blip it takes to think before speaking.
Take that time next time.

Still, I am sorry.

Sorry, God, I'm just too busy today

I'll talk to you later!

But in the meantime, will you come with me into this busy day?
Thanks!

"Loretta, I'm already here. Will you notice me?"

Return to the meadow and pray

When a friend visited you from a long distance, you took her to a wooded park and had a wonderful conversation looking over a meadow.

Weeks later you revisit the meadow and recall the meaningful experience of being together with your friend. The memory is so vivid it’s almost like reliving it. You feel a deep peace.

That is prayer.

On occasion, I read a scripture, and I stop on a word. For whatever reason, it provokes thoughts and I cannot rush past, because if I do, I will miss radiant and transcendent beauty.

I stop.

When you read a scripture, and you meet your best friend Jesus there, revisit the meadow of inspiration.

Revisit the place where you had such joy together.

When a scripture passage comes alive to you, go back to it again and again for further consolations.

I held hands with the Lord

She was a Catholic nun who held my hands during prayer.
They were strangers holding hands during the Our Father at Mass.
Take a moment and notice what your hands do today.
He was a homeless man who prayed with me on the street.

I was holding my own palm after reception of the Eucharist.

We hold Jesus in one another every day.

Relax! You are safe.

Things that appear ugly and scary might really be conduits of delight.

I'm watching plump bees zip from pink-purple flower to pink-purple flower, hovering and circling in a muted dance.

Having just finished breakfast on an outdoor patio at a beautiful resort, I hear only birds who join each other in song. Some tweet with low voices and others emit high pitches.

The bees are far enough from me to evoke no fear in me this quiet morning as they go about their work of gathering the raw ingredients for honey.

The sweetness I will taste in future is a result of these dark creatures, who are capable of stinging. And in different circumstances, they would drive me to fear.

I marvel at the Creator who puts them here to remind me of lilies in the field that neither toil nor spin, yet God provides for each one of them.

And God provides for me.

Too busy for this minute?

Yes, I have been too busy to post as often as I'd like to.
Please be sure to visit IgnatianSpirituality.com for a great blog, called dotMagis. I'm always inspired. there.

Following a dream is difficult.
It can be scary.
You start out on the first step of a journey.
Does worry cause you to wonder: will I fail before I even start?
After the initial excitement wears off, what next?
Hard work.
Persistence.

Best wishes.
